Happy February Hoot Crew!  Welcome to our new monthly feature highlighting news & happenings!

I’m always thinking of new ways we can personally make changes to our home to be as green as possible, and one area of opportunity for our family is composting.  As a New Yorker, with our wildly thriving rodent population, I have been nervous about storing food scraps anywhere in or near our home.  But, the benefits of composting so far outweigh any minor downsides, for recycling nutrients, reducing powerful greenhouse emissions, improving soil quality, and mitigating the impact of droughts. The good news is that the free Curbside Composting program is expanding to all 5 NYC boroughs by October 2024.  But for daily needs, I’ve been researching electric options, as a means to reduce odors & for overall convenience. After lots of research, we’re eyeing this new (very expensive!) gadget from Geme, that customers swear is worth the $$$ because of its large capacity, silence, & lack of odors: Geme

Consignment Update! We have now officially switched over to Spring & Summer intake this month.  We’ve heard comments from consignors about our long wait times for appointments & lagging winter goods.  As always, we accept walk-in’s for 10 or fewer items at any time in our store except for Saturday’s.  And this includes any off-season gems that you think we need to see (case in point - someone came in last week with a perfect Mini Rodini winter parka that we took & priced right away!) As for those appointment times, we get same-day cancellations all the time, and they rarely get backfilled, so please do call the store on any Tuesday, Wednesday, or Sunday that you can make it in, to see if there is a cancellation.
